Welcome
Headteacher - Nicholas Bradnick-Thompson

Hello and welcome to the website for Wombourne High School. My name is Nicholas Bradnick-Thompson and I am the proud headteacher here. In April 2025, I joined a vibrant team of staff, leaders and students whose ambitions and desires for the success of Wombourne High School match my own.
I bring skills and experience spanning almost two decades in the profession in a variety of leadership positions. I am a secondary English teacher by training, but have taught and led schools across all Key Stages including Early Years, all the way up to Key Stage 5. My knowledge and experience of the journey of education throughout is paramount to securely setting the expectations for all stakeholders here at Wombourne High School. I am a passionate believer in equality, and therefore I will lead Wombourne to be a school which holds itself on a par with selective and fee-paying schools for the quality and breadth of education and opportunities that children have access to. Children deserve the very best standards of education which should be accessible to all.
Our school serves the thriving village of Wombourne; England's largest village. Many of our children live locally in the immediate village, or the surrounding areas and are proud of the community in which they live. As a result, we respect the position of trust placed in us as a school in being an integral part of the community and supporting the next generation in shaping its future.
We are a large 11-18 school and most children join us right at the beginning of this journey in Year 7. We have very little transition, meaning that the vast majority of our children see through their full educational journey here at Wombourne High School. Our Key Stage 3 curriculum runs throughout Years 7, 8 and 9, where children then take their options and focus their studies as they progress into Key Stage 4 for Years 10 and 11 where they will sit their examinations for their qualifications. At Sixth Form, we offer a curriculum that supports the needs of our community and our students. We recognise that for many students, they value the relationships that they have forged throughout their journey in Years 7 to 11, and they wish to continue developing these connections throughout Years 12 and 13 as well.
We push our students to achieve the very best results that they can here at Wombourne, whilst supporting them with their varying strengths and talents. We recognise, however, that learning is never limited to just the classroom environment. Therefore, we are enormously proud of our wider opportunities for personal development. Our Performing Arts events, and PE successes cannot be overstated. It is these opportunities that mean that our students truly thrive at Wombourne High School.
At Wombourne, we hold the values of hard work, positivity and kindness. These underpin all of our actions and decisions, and are the benchmarks against which all stakeholders can be held to account. We believe that these are integral to nurturing future citizens.
In March 2022 Wombourne was the subject of a Section 5 Ofsted Inspection which resulted in an overall 'Good' judgement, inclduing all individual areas as being 'Good' too. Inspectors commented how pupils 'can flourish' here at Wombourne, and where 'leaders are ambitious for every pupil'. I encourage anyone considering attending Wombourne High School to read the full report for further detail. Our next Ofsted inspection will be under the new framework which we very much look forward to. Despite, this, Ofsted is only one measure of success for a school, and we recognise that impact that we have on our students lives using a far broader range of metrics.
We are proud to be a part of a wider trust; Invictus. In 2015, we were one of the founding schools of the trust and have been a part of its journey of growth since then, seeing other schools choosing to join an innovative and exciting organisation such as Invictus. All of the current members of the Trust are geographically local to each other, meaning that we regularly collaborate and share our learning across the organisation. The benefits of which can be felt at all levels.
I welcome you to look at our website and learn all about our thriving school here at Wombourne. If you have any further queries, please contact the school directly via office@wombournehighschool.co.uk.
