Our Culture

OUR VISION

Our vision at Wombourne High School is to develop students who are confident, independent and resilient citizens with unlimited aspirations, who leave our school equipped to be successful in any pathway they choose.

OUR MISSION

In our journey towards achieving our vision, everything we do is underpinned by our mission:

  • Offering an inspiring curriculum that meets the needs, interests and abilities of all young people, and fosters inquisitive minds and a love of learning.

  • Getting to know every student so that their individual needs are met, their abilities are understood, and their diverse talents are developed.

  • Encouraging students to reach and exceed their potential by providing exceptional teaching and support and developing a ‘can do’ attitude amongst both students and staff.

  • Providing a supportive and structured learning environment which allows everyone to learn and where all students can thrive.

  • Presenting students with a range of unique opportunities and experiences which enrich their character and give them the qualities they need to flourish in society.

  • Ensuring our students leave us as confident, articulate young adults ready to enter the best universities, the most prestigious apprenticeships, or the world of work.

OUR VALUES
At Wombourne High School we encourage all students and staff to understand, share and embrace our vision, and embed our values into everyday practice. We clearly communicate our vision and values throughout every day so that the whole school community know the purpose of everything that we do. Our students know why they SMILE in lessons, why they are CALM around school, and why they need GRIT to succeed.

Our ethos is driven by our three core values and describes how all members of our school community should be kind to one another and to the environment around them. Our ethos is ambitious for our students, and we ask students to aspire to be the very best versions of themselves through outstanding effort and commitment every day.

In our school we are all responsible for contributing to a safe and positive learning environment where we demonstrate:

-  hard work;

-  positivity;

-  kindness.

From the moment a student arrives at Wombourne High School, we ask them to live these values.

Hard work
At Wombourne High School our students work hard. They are courageous and determined in the pursuit of their goals, and resilient to setbacks. We help our students to understand that effort now will help ensure their success in the future. Our students know that every step they take forms part of their journey to success, and we help them to understand that long term goals are achieved by taking small steps every day.

Positivity
Through our positive environment, we always promote the highest possible aspirations for our students and encourage a ‘can-do’ attitude. At Wombourne High School we believe that anything is possible, and our students are challenged to do their best, to never give up and to do whatever it takes for as long as it takes. We encourage students to demonstrate positivity by involving themselves in all aspects of school life and are committed to providing unique opportunities and experiences that lead to happy, healthy, and successful futures.

Kindness
We expect all our students and our staff at Wombourne High School to show kindness: to treat others as they wish to be treated, to be respectful, fair, and compassionate. Our students are polite and courteous, and always happy to help others. We are privileged to help our students develop their sense of responsibility and respect for themselves and the world around them and celebrate diversity through our inclusive culture.

WHAT MAKES US UNIQUE?
Young people do better when schools collaborate, not when they compete. Our position within the Invictus Education Trust allows us to benefit from the best of collaborative working and continues to demonstrate how excellence can be achieved when schools work together. The values of the Trust showcase how we achieve this:

Every day, in every way, our students come first

Our first and most important value.

Anything is possible

We focus on the challenge to identify it, our energy is spent finding a solution.

Accountability

If it is to be, it is to be me.

Seek and seize opportunities

We aim to deliver ‘WOW’ through opportunities and experiences.

Focus on relationships and all else will follow

Open, honest and empathic relationships with clear and simple communication are the foundations of our Trust

Start with the end in mind

We identify our aspiration and put processes in place to exceed expectations. We celebrate our progress throughout the journey.

Think collaboratively

We always ask ourselves; can we include more students, more of our team or more of our schools in everything we do?

Invictus Education Trust

Invictus Education Trust was created in March 2015 by a group of like-minded schools: Crestwood, Ellowes Hall Sports College, Kinver High and Wombourne High School. Two schools have since joined us, Leasowes High School in Autumn 2016 and Pedmore High School in September 2018, further strengthening an already thriving trust.

Where we differ from other Multi Academy Trusts us our intention to collaborate, across our schools in every aspect.

This means that our students, staff, parents and community all benefit from the culture we have to created with our vision, mission and values, collectively known as our culture, the Invictus Culture.
