Key Stage 4 external examinations
Students performed very well in public examinations taken in Summer 2019. Results were particularly impressive in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Science (Trilogy), Art, Geography and vocational Business and Sport.
Key Stage 5 external examinations
We are very proud that following A-level results in 2019 one of our students has gone onto study Maths at Oxford (A*A*A*A in Maths, Further maths, Physics and Chemistry), one student has gone on to study Medicine at Birmingham (AAA in Biology, Chemistry and Psychology), and another student achieved A grades in all 4 of her subjects and has gone onto study History at Birmingham (AAAA in Art, History, Psychology and Extended Project).
Progress at Key Stage 5
In 2019, sixth form students at Wombourne High School achieved a progress score of -0.25 for A Levels.
In 2019, sixth form students at Wombourne High School achieved a progress score of +0.77 for Applied Generals Qualifications.
Attainment at Key Stage 5
In 2019 the average grade achieved at A Level was grade C. At LA level, the average grade was C and at national level the average grade was C+.
In 2019 in Applied General Qualifications the average grade achieved was Distinction, compared to Distinction- at LA level and Merit+ at National level.
In 2019 within Technical Qualifications the Attainment and Completion Score was +2.40, compared to an LA score of -0.11 and a National score of 0.00.
English and Maths progress at Key Stage 5
Only one student entered the Sixth Form in Sept 2018 without a grade 4 in English. This student achieved the grade 4 by the summer of 2019.
Six students started Y12 in September 2018 without a grade 4 in Mathematics. Two students achieved a grade 4 by the summer of 2019.
Retention at Key Stage 5
For A Levels, 95% of students completed their 2-year programme of study. This is above both LA (87%) and national (91%) figures.
For Vocational qualifications, 100% of students completed their 2-year programme of study. This is above both LA (85%) and national (86%) figures.
