Trips and Visits
At Wombourne High School, trips and educational visits are a core part of our Personal Development offer, helping to bring learning to life and broaden students’ experiences beyond the classroom.

We believe that education extends far beyond lessons, and our carefully planned programme of visits plays a vital role in developing students’ character, confidence and understanding of the world around them. These experiences are deliberately built into our wider Personal Development journey, ensuring that every student has access to meaningful opportunities that enrich both their academic learning and personal growth.

Across all year groups, students take part in a wide range of visits and experiences. These include local cultural trips, subject-specific fieldwork, careers events, and national and international visits. From exploring places of worship and museums in Key Stage 3, to taking part in geography fieldwork, university visits and careers-related experiences in Key Stage 4 and Sixth Form, each visit is designed to deepen understanding, build independence and raise aspirations.

Residential trips and international visits form an important part of our offer, with opportunities such as PGL, European cultural visits and battlefield tours helping students to develop resilience, teamwork and a greater awareness of global issues. Alongside this, theatre visits, industry experiences and university events ensure that students are exposed to a wide range of future pathways and possibilities.

Trips and visits also play a key role in supporting our school values of hard work, positivity and kindness, giving students the chance to develop important life skills such as communication, collaboration and adaptability in real-world settings. These experiences are further captured and celebrated through our Personal Development journey, enabling students to reflect on what they have learned and how they have grown.

Through our commitment to inclusive participation, we aim to ensure that all students benefit from these opportunities, regardless of background. Trips and visits at Wombourne High School are therefore not seen as extras, but as an essential part of developing well-rounded, confident young people who are prepared for life beyond school. Information on when visits occur can be found on our PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT OFFER MAP here
