What Will I Study?
Do you dream of being the next Olympic Gold Medallist? Do you spend all your free time either watching or playing sport? Does VAR really annoy you and you just need an opportunity to share your frustrations? Then this is the course for you!
You will study a range of exciting topics from the inner workings of the anatomy and physiology of your body, to the nutritional and lifestyle choices that help develop an athlete through to theories surrounding sports psychology and socio-cultural influences such as the media and modern technological advances in sports. You will also be assessed practically across a number of different activities that must cover both individual and team based sports.

How Will I Learn?
You will cover the course over 2 years in both theory and practical based lessons using a variety of different teaching methods. You will take on leadership roles within lessons or have to demonstrate the importance of working well as a team. Where possible, theory knowledge will be taught through practical means to allow you the opportunity to understand it in greater depth.
How Will I Be Assessed?
You will sit 2 externally assessed exams:
Paper 1 - The human body and movement in physical activity and sport. 1 hour 15 minutes (30%)
Paper 2 - Socio-cultural influences and well-being in physical activity and sport. 1 hour 15 minutes (30%)
You will be assessed in 3 different sports activities which must cover both game and individual activities alongside one written piece of coursework about your 3 sports. (40%)
What skills / attributes are required for this course?
Have a high level of interest in sport both in and out of school
Show regular participation in PE lessons and extra curricular clubs
Be organised to have the equipment required for each lesson
The desire and enthusiasm to succeed
