What Will I Study?
There has never been a better or more important time to study geography. Geography helps you to make sense of the world around you. It's hands on, relevant, and fun. Whatever your passion for the world � fascination with landscapes or concerns about sustainability � geography will provide you with knowledge and transferable skills that will reward you personally and advance you professionally. This course studies a mixture of human and physical geography. You will travel the world from your classroom, exploring case studies in the United Kingdom (UK), higher income countries (HICs), newly emerging economies (NEEs) and lower income countries (LICs). How Will I Learn?
You will be taught the content over two years. In Year 10, you will study the Physical World and in Year 11, Human Challenges. Geographical applications and skills are taught throughout the years, continuing to build on the knowledge you have gained in Years 7-9. You will be using a variety of texts, unseen material and pictoral sources of information to help you become more critical, analytical and inquisitive about the world.
How Will I Be Assessed?
Paper 1 � Living with the Physical Environment, including natural hazards (tectonic and weather), ecosystems (rainforests and deserts) and rivers and coasts. 1 hour 30 minutes (35%)
Paper 2 � Challenges with the Human Environment, including cities in different parts of the world, globalisation, the importance of water and energy. 1 hour 30 minutes (35%)
Paper 3 � Geographical applications and skills, Two pieces of field work (one physical and one human). Tests geographical skills (30%)
