What Will I Study?

Do you dream of being the next Maddie Ziegler? Is watching a bit of strictly on a Saturday night the highlight of your week? Could you choreograph a routine to match Ashley Banjo? Then this could be the course for you!
During this course you will study:
A variety of different performance skills and techniques across a range of dance styles that you will put into practice in solo, duo and group performances
Six set works from some famous choreographers in the world of dance
How to develop your choreographic skills to help portray different situations and emotions through the art of dance

How Will I Learn?

During the course you will have the opportunity to learn in both the classroom and practical setting, studying six short professional dance works across a range of genres to underpin learning across a range of areas. You will get to watch a range of video dance works (and hopefully some live ones to support your understanding!) and then get to put them into practice through your performances.

How Will I Be Assessed?

Component 1 - Performance & Choreography (60%)
Performance - you will perform short routines set by AQA (both as a solo and duet/trio) (30%)
Choreography � you will learn how to respond creatively to an externally set stimulus and must choreograph a group/solo performance that clearly communicates this to the audience (30%)
Component 2 - Dance appreciation through knowledge of choreographic processes (40%)
This is an external exam based around the set works you have studied and your own performances and choreography

High level of proficiency in Dance and/or Sports Acro
Confidence performing to an audience
A Love for the world of dance
